The purpose of Kimberling Area Library Association (KALA) is to maintain a core of persons interested in staffing and supporting the Library with fund-raising events, as well as strengthening its collections and promoting awareness of the Library throughout the community.
KALA accomplishes these goals by sponsoring special programs, by holding semi-annual book and craft sales, as well as other fund-raising projects throughout the year. The organization has an active publicity department and a dedicated membership which assists where needed to help area residents enjoy the Library.

"Friends" is a vital source of income for our Library!
Friends of the Library have a tremendous opportunity this tax year (2006) and the next to give back to our community, thanks to the recently passed Pension Protection Act of 2006. New provisions permit individuals 70.5 years and older to rollover otherwise taxable distributions of up to $100,000 each taxable year from a traditional or Roth IRA to charity and exclude the rollover from gross income. The Kimberling Area Library is a qualifying charity and would greatly appreciate your consideration of a gift of this nature.
Donors must direct their IRA manager to transfer funds directly to qualifying charities such as KAL. Please note that donor-advised funds and supporting organizations are not eligible. Gifts mst be outright (i.e., planned gifts, gift annuities, and CRT's do not qualify). Amounts transferred to a charity count toward mandatory distributions. This new provision is currently in effect only through December 31, 2007, this tax year and next.
This new IRA rollover is an exciting tool for qualified individuals. It offers a unique vehicle for donors to meet charitable goals and improve the quality of life for generations throughout the area served by the Kimberling Area Library. Please consult your tax professional for further information concerning the IRA charitable rollover--and keep KAL in mind when you do.
